Ch-ch-check it out! Some fantastic news about our fantastic friends:
- How pleased were we to hear our friend Sinan Antoon on NPR a couple days ago? Massively! A really interesting panel discussion about the state of poetry. Sinan makes some great points about poetry / capitalism. Worth a listen!: Poets Tell The Stories Of Their Countries
- Some names for you to look out for when you’re reading your copy of the new Chapman magazine: Benjamin Morris, Cynthia Rogerson (Moniack Mhor), and Rob A. Mackenzie – editor, friend, and forthcoming reader at the Golden Hour! Get your copy from the Chapman website: here!
- Claire Askew and Tom Pow have poems in the Scottish Poetry Library’s Best Scottish Poems anthology 2009. Well done!
- Ryan Van Winkle has a new poem called Challenger (1986) published in Stone’s Throw Magazine. It references the Challenger disaster which he remembers watching and re-watching as a kid in Mrs. Ewar’s 4th grade Social Studies class. You can read it right here.
- We’re so excited to have BURNT ISLAND playing at the Golden Hour this March 24th. Check out what people are saying about their debut album, MUSIC AND MATHS:
“A beautiful collection of folk pop laments…fragile, haunting, and often sounds timeless.” THE SCOTSMAN ****
“An impressive calling card… Glass has an idiosyncratic approach to song writing, with well-crafted lyrics spilling over one another like a meditative Kevin Rowland.” SUNDAY HERALD, ****
“Beautiful and understated…an auspicious debut” THE LIST, ****
“Refreshes the parts that wistful indie does not normally reach…undulates with subtle melody.” SCOTLAND ON SUNDAY
WELL DONE Rodge & co.!
- And some stunning congratulations are due to Andrew Philip whose debut collection The Ambulance Box has made the Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust Book Awards 2010 first-book shortlist! Our fingers are crossed for you, sir!
